Kill Bill Volume 2

Kill Bill: Volume 2

In the first shot we see a woman sitting down in a church. We see this through the use of a medium close up. This could suggest that the woman is religious and could possibly be praying. However, the mise-en-scene of her white dress, suggest that she could be a bride. There is also the use of a tracking shot going backwards. This helps to set the scene so they audience know where the clip will take place. We can also hear non-diegetic music, which suggests that the movie could have a western theme. Next we see a point of view, shot of a deserted town. There is also the use of high-key lighting, this suggests that the woman will go outside. There is also the rule of thirds, which makes the doorway more significant, giving the audience and enigma code.

We then see the woman looking confused, through the use of another medium close up. This is also a reaction shot. This signifies that the woman recognises the non-diegetic sound of a flute playing. The following shot is a long shot of the woman looking outside the door. This use of front lighting and the rule of thirds shows her emotions, and that she is possibly sad.

The woman then walks outside to stand beside the man playing the flute. This is a low angle suggesting that she is more in power of the situation. Also she has her back to him, which suggests that she doesn’t like him/ has conflict with him. In the next shot, the woman turns towards the man, as though she has recognised him. The next shot is one of the man playing the flute. This is shown through the high angle close up. This intensifies the conflict between them.

We then have a series of shot reverse shots with the man and woman which suggests that there is tension between them. In the next shot we see the woman standing through the use of medium close up. This shows that they have a past together. There is then the use of another shot reverse shot where the man and woman are walking towards each other. This shows that the distance is slowly turning into them being close. The last shot is an extreme over the shoulder shot, which makes the man and woman seem comfortable and relaxed with each other.
